Latest Layout

I only have two more weeks left in my class at BPS, Adventures in Scrapbooking-Go Hybrid, taught by May Flaum. I've had fun taking the class. I'm finally feeling more comfortable mixing digital elements with traditional scrapbooking products.

Home Work = Homework

"The most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home."
by Harold B. Lee

There is nothing that has to be done this week that is more important than living with grateful awareness of the people you love and the place you call home.
by Stacy Julian

These quotes were presented in my Library of Memories class by Stacy Julian. I love them because they define what I am trying to do at this point in my life. It's why I quit work to be home with the girls. So far, so good. They do seem to be happier. They had spent a few days at their mother's for spring break, so it took a few days to get them back to our schedule. They stay up much too late when they are at her home. But the genuinely seem happy to be back home. They got their report cards yesterday. All of them are doing pretty well. Madyson's was almost flawless. She's our little perfectionist. The other two are wrestling with math. In fact last night when I was doing homework with Hayley, I had to call Ron to help. They are doing pre-Algebra. I hated Algebra. And I can tell because I was struggling to help her. What's it going to be like in a few years? We'll all need a math tutor!

Family Share Site at Shutterfly

I had a few requests that I continue this blog as well as keeping up our Piercey family website at Shutterfly. So I will continue this for now. You can find us at:  www.thepierceyfamily.shutterfly.com.

We've been staying busy with the kids. Coen came over yesterday to play. He's a ball full of energy. But he is super fun to have around. He cracks me up at every turn.

Hope you are all having a great week.

Hybrid Fever

I decided after doing a complete digital layout that it wasn't for me. It looks great on the computer screen, but I miss the dimension that good old scrapbooking provides. So a hybrid layout is as close as I want to get. In this latest layout, I used a photo that I had used a digital overlay and brush on when I was taking a class at Jessica Sprague's website. She has wonderful classes that have great step by step tutorials. I did this layout tonight for my Hybrid class at BPS.

Hannah had a wonderful time on her overnight zoo trip. She sure was tired when she got back. She said the lion woke them up this morning with his roar. She said that it sounded like he was right outside their tent. They also got to feed the lion last night. When he laid down to rest, they threw meat over the fence. I guess they all froze at bedtime. I think it got down to the upper 40's. But they had fun all the same.

Zoo Trip and Baking

Hannah was off to her overnight Phoenix Zoo field trip with the school. It is a right of passage for the 3rd grade classes. She was so excited! In fact she was so excited she woke up at 5:00 am this morning. I got her to lay down with me and she fell back to sleep. They are staying up until 11:00 pm tonight and I'm sure she won't sleep that good. But she will have fun! Hayley did some baking tonight. She got a Girl Gourmet cake maker for Christmas and she makes us cakes about once a week. No mind you, they are only about 3 inches tall, but she has a blast making them and eating them. And a bonus, she does clean up the mess when she's done. She's a keeper!

Digi Layout

Took the plunge today for my Hybrid scrapbooking class. Everything is digital. And I even made up my own elements for the title block and grunge frame around the photo. Took me about an hour and a half to get it the way I wanted. Plus I had to play around in Photoshop to see what did what. But I'm happy at my first full fledged attempt. I still like playing with paper & glue, but this is a nice change! The round journaling stamp is made by Stacy Marks from 2 Peas in a Bucket (courtship stamp). The red grunge cardstock is unknown. I downloaded it ages ago when I didn't realize you needed to keep the designers info. The other patterned papers, word strip and stars are from Chris Ford from 2 Peas also. It's his Future Rock Star Kit. And lastly, the paint strokes around the layout are by Melany Violette & the font is Amsterdam Graffitti downloaded from Dafont.

More Layouts

I've been busy doing some scrapbooking for my classes at Big Picture Scrapbooking. For May Flaum's Adventure in Hybrid Scrapbooking class I did the "Look mom, bugs" page. And I am following Cathy Zielske's Design Your Life as a 2008 alumni. I did the "Garden" layout for that class. I'm learning a lot and having fun. We get our new class material on Thursday's, so I'll be sharing more soon.

Crafty goodness

I am currently taking two classes at Big Picture Scrapbooking. I am taking Stacy Julian's "Library of Memories" class as a 2008 alumni. I am also taking May Flaum's "Adventures in Scrapbooking-Go Hybrid" class. I am enjoying both tremendously! Check out their website (bigpicturescrapbooking.com). You will not regret it!

New beginnings

Many changes have come about over the last week in my life. I had been working full time the last 10 months and trying to adjust to that schedule. Before that I had been working part time, so it was quite the adjustment. But my family and home were suffering the consequences of me being gone that many hours. Not to mention how tired I was each day. So I am now a stay at home grandmother. I'm not sure how it will go financially. That remains to be seen. But we're going to give it a shot. The girls seem happier in the last few days. I am able to devote more time to them. We have begun reading more often together at bedtime. I have been cooking the meals, where it was always Ron, (my husband), who had been doing that. So now life is getting use to this new chapter. I've been working outside the home for the last 22 years. And I'm sure I'll go back once the girls grow up or when Ryan's situation changes. But I hope it works out. Maybe we all will not be so stressed. The real treat in this is that I will have more time to scrapbook. I want to get all these stories of us down on paper. And along with telling those stories I can be creative and have a little fun. Here's to this new chapter..... I'll keep you posted.
