Identity Theft Stinks!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was very nice. We went to see Titanic in 3D, and I have to say it was almost as fun as seeing it for the first time. I love that movie!

I want to share something that I have always feared, but felt we were vigilant enough that it would not happen to us. I was wrong......

I received a phone call this morning from bank card services asking us about a large transaction that was attempted four times on my checking account card. Someone had tried using it four times to purchase almost $700 worth of merchandise on the Internet this morning. Luckily our balance was lower than that, so it rejected. The bank immediately cancelled my bank card and told me to be sure to check all our other accounts. Well, next I was looking online at our credit card activity and there was a charge on there from Friday that I didn't make. I called the company in which the charge was made, and it was a credit report service. Someone had opened an account and charged it to our credit card and had access to our credit report. They promptly cancelled that account as well. I had to place fraud alerts with the credit report agencies so hopefully someone will not be opening accounts with our information. What a nightmare!

I think we caught it in time. But it's unnerving because we are always careful who we give our account information to, we shred all our important documents at home, and we check our accounts quite often. You just can't be too careful. I have no idea how this happened, or who or how they got our information. I just know that I was working on this all morning, and it is a complete and utter pain!

Please, please check your accounts often. Get a copy of your credit reports once a year. Here is more information. You cannot be too careful. We're thinking twice now about using our debit check cards for everything we purchase around town.

Here's a layout I created on Friday for my "28 Sketches" class:

Products Used: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics & The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper: The Paper Studio & Prima - Washi Tape: Hambly - Epoxy Letter Stickers: Making Memories - Foam Dots: Therm O Web - Twine: Doodle Bug Designs - Ink: Colorbox - Die Cut Machine: Craft Robo.

Usually I have all my photos printed ahead of time, and in 4X6 or slightly smaller formats. Lately I have held off on getting photos from our events printed out until I have an idea of how I'm going to scrap them. This paid off for the photos that I used on this layout. I was able to take all the photos and print them out as 2X3 inch size that worked for the sketch.

Have a great week and keep scrapping!

  4. That's terrible, I'm so sorry that happened to you. It's a good thing your bank called you! I'm always worried about resturants, especially when they take awhile getting back to our table. Good luck getting everything resolved.

I love your layout! You did a great job getting so many pics in while keeping the composition balanced.
