My layout was created for the April Spring Fling challenge at Scrap Our Stash. Our spring rains seem to be milder than the rains we get during
the monsoon season, and the kids love to go out and splash in the puddles.
These photos were taken in 2005 when our girls were much younger, but they
still want to go out and "play" in the rain and make paper boats to
run down the gutters full of water.
The patterned papers I chose are old and new, as well as the embellishments. The background paper is from Daisy Bucket Designs. I've had this in my stash for a couple of years now I think. It had pretty dragonflies in the pattern and really had nothing to do with rain. But when I was flipping through my patterned papers, I noticed it matched the pink color of my granddaughters shirts, and if I turned it upside down, it had the feel of circle/bubbles falling down.
The blue polka dot paper is from My Mind's Eye's Lime Twist/Happy Go Lucky Collection. It's a newer line and I chose it to bring out the blues in the photos.
I used minimal embellishments, but I'm hoping the choices I did make, enhanced the feeling of the "rainy play". The cloud border is from Crate Paper's Neighborhood collection which is a fairly current collection. But the umbrella is totally old school! I couldn't find anything in my stash of embellishments that felt like it would go well with this layout and the feeling I was trying to convey. So I dug deep and came up with the umbrella clip art from DJ Inkers. Is that a blast from the past or what? I know they are still around, but you just don't see them much any more in the world of scrapbook layouts.
If you're in the mood to pull out some old product and mix it with your new stash, watch Shimelle's latest Glitter Girl Adventure video at Two Peas In A Bucket. She shows you how easy it can be to match it up with current product.
And speaking of Shimelle.....Don't forget her Scrapbooking Weekend starting tomorrow. I'm hoping to pop in and out to join in on the fun.

And lastly, I want to share a layout that I created for last week's Library Of Memories Community challenge at Big Picture Classes. The challenge was to use 5 photos, 5 colors, and use 5 handwritten captions on the layout. Also the photos needed to be from your storage binders as well. I loved putting this layout together. I have fond memories of my husband's fish carving days.
And please come and join in on the fun at Scrap Our Stash. You just might get chosen to be a guest design team member and have your work showcased on the blog.
Have a great day!

Great LOs Debbie..'see' you at Shimelle's at the weekend! Love the cloud border on the first one!
