That's All She Wrote

I have had a blast creating layouts with Shimelle's Scrapbooking Weekend Challenges. I believe it comes to an official end tomorrow afternoon, so that's all for me. I think I created around 10 layouts, so I'm pretty happy! I need to now gear up for a busy, busy May.

I have signed up for the May 2012 Layout A Day challenge. I wasn't too successful with February's go round, but I'll try my best to keep up this time. The theme is "Scrapbooking Outside The Box". It sounds like it's going to be a mix of everything: design, techniques, journaling, photography and much more. Sounds like fun!

I also signed up for May Flaum and Nic Howard's class at Big Picture Classes called "Double Take". It starts May 10th and is 4 weeks long. It focuses on creating double paged layouts, which I love to do quite often. I love both of these ladies, so I couldn't resist. Hope to see you at one of these great events!

Now to share my layouts:

Products Used: Cardstock: The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper: American Crafts (Letterbox/Response & Dear Lizzy/Sweet Sundress), Bella Blvd.(Estate Sell) - Journal Block: Making Memories (NoteWorthy) - Twine: Doodlebug Designs (Bubblegum) - Brads: Making Memories - Flower Gems: (Kaiser Craft) - Buttons: The Paper Studio - Pen: American Crafts - Circle Punch: Fiskars & Family Treasures - Tiny Attacher: Tim Holtz - Ink:
Colorbox - Glue Dots.

Challenge #6 at Shimelle’s blog is called “From One To Another”. The challenge was for us to find a layout we love, that isn't in a style or color scheme we'd usually use, and scraplift it with a twist that makes it ours. I chose this layout by Wendy Sue Anderson. I didn't really make too many dramatic changes to Wendy's layout, but there are a few slight changes. I obviously made two rows of photos instead of one. I modified some of the circles to give the layout more of a whimsical feel. The quote is by Dr. Suess and it is one of my favorites. I went old school with the quote/title and printed it out on my computer. Do people still do this? I didn't want to bother with letter stickers or die cut letter.

I also used the word "future" in my journaling so I could enter this layout in the "Future Challenge" at Bird Is The Word.

Products Used: Cardstock: The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper & Stickers: Echo Park (A Boy's Life/Red Plaid,Charmer,Rambunctious) - Letter Stickers: American Crafts (Thickers/Rockateer Chipboard) & My Mind's Eye (Lime Twist/Fly A Kite Genuine Alpha) - Journal Spot: Jillibean Soup (Journal Sprouts/Watermelon Gazpacho Soup) - Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Foam Dots/Squares.

Challenge #9 was to choose an outdated challenge and consider it reopened. I chose Shimelle's class at Two Peas In A Bucket from last year called "4X6 Love". I chose to do February's challenge and use two photos.

Products Used: Cardstock: The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper, Blue Journal Spot & Border Sticker: Echo Park (A Boy's Life/Energetic) - Letter Stickers: Miss Elizabeth - Lable Sticker: My Mind's Eye (Miss Caroline) - Button: American Crafts (Dear Lizzy) - Flower Brads: Doodlebug Designs (Spring Flowers) - Orange Journal Spot: Reminisce (Unwritten) - Word Sticker: Authentique (Dictation) - Pen: American Crafts (Precision Pen 03).

Challenge #11 was to  take two contrasting patterned papers to created your background. That's easy peasy when you use the same product line. This layout is also a rework of this old layout that drove me crazy!

I'm much happier with the new version. I  used a sketch by Lisa Day from "28 Sketches" at Big Picture Classes

Products Used: Cardstock: DCWV (Textured Spring) - Patterned Papers: American Crafts (Gardenia/Annual Terrace) & (Day Dreams/Happy Days & Wonderful Day) - Border Punch: Fiskars - Flowers & Pinwheels: Pebbles - Word Sticker: Authentique (Delightful Element) - Word Label: My Mind's Eye (Miss Caroline) - Flower Jewels: Colorbok - Die Cut Machine: Craft Robo - Glue Dots.

Challenge #12 was to create a layout with one photo printed twice. A couple of years back, it was playing around with the photo above in Photoshop until I came up with the results I wanted. I remembered I still had it and dug it out of my photos and thought it would be fun to use it. I used a sketch from my "28 Sketch" class also.

Products Used: Cardstock: The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper, Journal Block, Tag & Stickers: Fancy Pants Designs (My Family-Uncle,Mother,Cards) - Fabric Flowers: Petaloo - Word Stickers: Reninisce (Unwritten) - Border Punch: EK Success.

And lastly, this layout was created for Shimelle's challenge #15. It challenged us to take a "rubbish" photo, (out of focus, orange, scratched, etc.), and use it on a layout. I knew immediately which photo I wanted to use. I have always loved this photo of my family, but it is dark, out of focus and scratched. It's a one of a kind, so it's worth more than gold to me.

I apologize for the long winded post tonight. I just wanted to keep busy and get the layouts done before I posted any of them to share.

I hope you have had a great day. It's HOT here in the Phoenix area. It was 103 degrees today. I hate it!!!! And we have 6 months more to come. Calgone....take me away!

  4. Debbie,
I've enjoyed looking at your layouts from Shimelle's Challenges. I like your style and quite frankly I may be 'lifting' a thing or two. :)

May should be very interesting, I'll see you in the LOAD May challenge. I sure I won't be scrapping everyday, but I always get ideas and can do them later. See you there.

I found you from a comment you made on one of my Shimelle's challenge. Thanks
