School's Out For Summer!

Hello fellow scrappy people! Today is our first official day of summer vacation. Wahoo! And we are even suppose to get a reprieve on our hot weather. It's been well over the 100 degree mark for the last few days, and it's only going to get to the high 90's today, and high 80's tomorrow! We'll take it when we can get it!

I have a share of my latest LOAD layout. I truly will miss Layout a Day, but I am ready for it to be over. There have been a couple of days when I barely got my layout finished and uploaded by the daily deadline. But I must say it's been really fun! The prompts have been amazing and have really taken me in directions I would have never thought of myself. Here's my layout:

I borrowed the design for my layout from the very talented Casey Wright. It was perfect for my photos and the product I wanted to use.  Our prompt today was "taste", and it was great because you don't know how many times I've passed up these photos looking for others to use. Another fun layout done!

I hope you all have a very safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. Here's some snapshots of our last week's activities to share. It's been crazy busy, but as you can see, fun!

Madyson got 3rd place in her relay race, and Hannah got 2nd in her relay race. So proud of them!

Fun phone photos at Mesa's Art Center. Love how the sun rays show up on the second one. Totally a natural occurrence and not added with Photoshop!

Coen during our weekly lunch date, and Madyson's reward to herself using the money she's earned for chores. She named her new baby "Sammy".

And lastly, Coen at his "last day of Kindergarten" celebration. They don't call it graduation any more at his school. I guess not all of the students were going to graduate, so they didn't want anyone to feel bad. And Hannah's body system presentation in her class. She was in charge of the "brain." She made it out of water balloons and a top of a gum ball machine. Problem is, it kept leaking brain fluid! But I give her an A+ for creativity!

Happy scrapping!

Teacher Gifts And Layout Shares

Hi ya'll, hope the beginning of the week is being kind to you. The next two weeks are crazy busy for us, and I hope we survive it! I'm hopeful, as we always seem to make it through just fine.

Since there is only three and a half days left of school for our little ones, I wanted to share a gift idea that I found on Pinterest, and I actually referred back to it and created it. Here's what I made for the girls' teachers:

I found this idea on Lisa Storm's blog and the pdf for the straw flags that you can download and print out. The cups were purchased at Walmart for around $3.95 each, and I filled them with individual packets of Iced Tea and Crystal Light. I thought it was an easy and fairly inexpensive gift idea. I think they'll like them.

Layout A Day is coming into the home stretch. So far so good for me. I've managed to make a layout a day thus far. Better than my attempt in February where I think I made it only half way through. Here are the last few layouts I have created for LOAD:

The challenge was called 5-5-5. Take only 5 minutes to pick your photos, 5 more to pick your product, and 5 more to do your journaling. Since I have most of my photos printed already, and I knew I wanted to use a 2 page sketch from my Big Picture Classes workshop "Double Take", it was easy picking the photos. Then I used my Scrapbook Circle kit from May, ( "The Story"), so product choice was a breeze. And as you can see, the journaling is minimal. I punched circles out the photos of the medals my granddaughter received and used the negative space to frame the top photos on the right hand side.

I used the sketch from Scrapbook Circle's May sketch challenge for this layout.

I punched some of the hidden background paper into circles and used foam adhesive to make raised patterns in the design. I've seen this technique quite a few times lately and I just had to do it. The challenge at LOAD was to repeat something in your design or use the same patterned papers from a previous layout, etc. etc.

The prompt for this one was to create a layout that had to do with the sense of smell. I pulled a couple of rain photos from my category drawers and put this layout together. (Disclaimer: I fixed the crooked border strips and moved the title over to the right a bit more after I scanned this. I was too lazy to scan it again! lol).

And this layout was created from a sketch we were provided in LOAD. I also tried my hand at clustering for last week's challenge at Whimsical Musings. It came a little easier this time, but I still need much practice for it to feel more natural.

And lastly, this layout was created for "Double Take". I followed a sketch they provided and just kind of slapped things down to see how it would turn out. I wasn't sure at first if I liked it, but it definitely has grown on me. I love the photos of our two oldest granddaughters from a few years ago. Brings back such happy memories. And I used up more older product which makes me very, very happy!

Have a great week! I hope to see you around the web. Keep scrapping!

Sound Bites and Fun In The Paper Variety

I found a new paper crafting website this week that I am super excited about. I'm always looking for new sources of inspiration. The Paper Variety is a site that has two challenges a month and plenty of inspiration. Diana Fisher is a talented scrapbooker and is their guest designer, and they are featuring one of her sketches for the first challenge of May. Here's the sketch:

This sketch worked perfectly for the two photos that I pulled out for my LOAD challenge for today. The prompt for today was to make a layout that had anything to do with cartoons. I knew immediately when I read the prompt what story I wanted to tell. Here's my layout:

I had fun putting this together. With the sketch it was easy peasy! Love these photos. They bring back lots of good memories when we just had one grandchild to spoil. She received loads of quality time! Loved using products from my latest kit "Garden Party" from Scrapbook Circle.

And with this next layout, I have a tool that I use and want to share. Here's the layout:

The tool is not real technical, not hard to use or set up, but it is absolutely an essential part of my scrapbooking system.

It is my Sound Bites Of Life file. This is where I keep all the little stories, funny mispronounced words, and bits of life until I'm ready to pair them with a photo to make a layout. And that's what I did on my layout. Super simple and very effective, don't you think!

I'm also very happy to report that on the second layout, everything on it is older product! Wahoo! Love when I can breeze through the old stuff!

Have a wonderful rest of your week. It's almost TGIF! Happy Scrapping!

Still Having A LOAD Of Fun!

I am continuing to work on my Layout A Day challenges and so far so good. I almost didn't make it on Mother's Day, but I had twenty minutes to spare when I uploaded it. Hope you all had a great Mother's Day. Mine was quiet, as the kids were with their mom. Quiet is good though, once in awhile. Here's a couple of layouts I've done:

Products Used:  Tickets & Brad Embellishments: My Mind's Eye (Kraft Fun Day/Happy Day Borders) - Washi Tape: Hambly - Journaling Cards: (Making Memories/Noteworthy) - Number Stickers & PP: Cosmo Cricket (Tiny Type) - Prima Packaging.

The design for this layout was from a layout I saw somewhere on the web that I made a sketch of. I forgot to write down the name of the person who did the original layout. I'm usually pretty good about getting those details down, but not this time. My apologies if you recognize the design and idea as it was not originally mine. The prompt for this layout was to use items that were in our trash. The Prima packaging and the paper bits were all in my recycling bin.

Products Used: Patterned Papers: The Girl's Paperie (Jubilee/Hey Day) & Crate Paper (Portrait Collection/Bridesmaids) - Letter Stickers: Glitz Designs (Teeny Alpha/Cream) - Scallop Word Circle: My Mind's Eye (Stella Rose/Hazel Fancy Stickers) - Circle Stickers: Pink Paislee (Praire Hill) - Phrase Sticker: Cosmo Cricket (Tiny Text) - Washi Tape: Hambly.

For this layout we had a sketch to follow which I tweaked quite a bit. All of the products I used, except for the washi tape, were from the Garden Party kit from Scrapbook Circle. It was a fun and super easy layout to put together.

And today's prompt was to scrap about something that brings us conflict in our lives. That would be my husband and son's motorcycles.

Products Used: Cardstock: Paperbilities - Patterned Paper: Making Memories (Just Chillin'/Plaid Boy & Checker Boy) & Hiedi Swapp (No Limits/Traditional) - Border Strips: My Mind's Eye (Kraft Fun Day/Happy Day Borders) - Magic Mesh - Star Punch: Marvy Uchida - Chalk Ink: Colorbox - Die Cut Machine: Craft Robo -  Washi Tape & Journaling Card: Unknown.

I hated when they got them, and I'm still not a big fan. They love them, so it's something I just have to deal with. I got much joy from putting together the layout though.

I am also busy with the class "Double Take" at Big Picture Classes with Nic Howard and May Flaum. I love it so far! I'm always up for a 2 pager layout! Here are two I have made so far:

Products Used:  Patterned Paper: Bo Bunny Press (Snowfall Collection) - Word Stickers: Little Yellow Bicycle (Winter Twig) - Chipboard Glitter Letter Stickers: American Crafts (Thickers) - Circle Punch: Fiskars.

Products Used: Cardstock: Paperbilities - Patterned Paper: Bazill Basics Paper (Wayfarer/Rover), Lily Bee Designs (Double Dutch/Key Lime Pie), Pink Paislee (She Art/Leap), Jillibean Soup (Neopolitan/Bean Bisque) - Banners: My Mind's Eye (Kraft Fun Day/Happy Day Borders) - Rain Dots: Cloud 9 - Word Phrase Stickers: Cosmo Cricket (Tiny Text) - Journaling Spot: Me & My Big Ideas (Le Bebe) - Distress Ink: Tim Holtz by Ranger - Title Letters: American Crafts (Thickers/Rocketeer).

I loved putting both of these together. It feels so good to get so many photos down on the pages and also use up all those patterned paper bits. The "Snow Much Fun" layout was made with 95% older product that I received in a scrap exchange. Pretty good deal, huh?

Have a great week everyone! Hope you get your craft on!

Happy Days and Hard Times

Someone once said while looking through a scrapbook of mine, that they wished they had a perfect life like my family does. What? You are kidding, right? I'm 52 years old and we're practically raising our grandchildren, at a time that most people our age have an empty nest and are traveling. I am not complaining, but we have made some sacrifices. We have one grandchild that is immature for their age and has different interests than most kids of the same age. We worry that they will not make friends easily the older they get and that they could possibly be the victim of bullying at some point. We have another grandchild that has ADHD and struggles everyday at keeping on task. They require much more attention when it comes to school work and homework. And we have another who is having trouble controlling their anger. They have started counseling so we can help them manage it now and form better life skills before puberty sets in and it won't be as easy. So perfect? Not so much. It could be worse, but it's far from perfect.

So the other day I remembered what this person had said, and decided that maybe I needed to tackle those harder to tell stories once in awhile. I do prefer my photos and layouts to be more upbeat, but there is value in telling the not so great stories too. The prompt for LOAD day 8 was to tell someone else's story on a layout. The events of  the story happened to our oldest granddaughter, but it effected all of us in one way or another. The layout is an example of a story that is a painful memory, but it is a very important story that changed our thought process after it happened.

Products Used: Cardstock: DCWV - Patterned Paper: Little Yellow Bicycle (Paradise/Blissful Dots) & Doodlebug Designs (Boy's Only/Cool Camo) - Journal Spot: Colorbok - Foam Letter Stickers: American Crafts (Thickers/Daiquiri) - Wood Button: Prima (Song Bird) - Brad & Arrow: My Mind's Eye (Kraft Fun Day/Everyday Fun Brads) - Circle Sticker: My Mind's Eye (Miss Caroline/Fiddlesticks Love) - Lable Sticker: Jillibean Soup (Soup Lable Sentiment) - Digital Journaling Card: Torta Cialla (Vintage Journal Card).

The journaling card is tucked behind the upper photo on the right hand side of the layout.

This was a super scary day. We are blessed that it turned out fine, but we realized that you never know when you could lose someone you love. We also learned that we shouldn't sweat the small stuff. Today could be your last day.

Now onto more upbeat stories.....

Day 7 of LOAD we were challenged to create a layout in 30 minutes or less. Normally I don't think I could do it, but I was lucky in that I already had my photo printed out and the lyrics to the song I used on the layout were saved in a word document for future use. I was able to create this in less than 30 minutes.

Products Used: Cardstock: The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper: Doodlebug Designs (Boy's Only/3220 Digits & Cool Camo) - Letter Stickers: American Crafts (Thickers/Dear Lizzy Fantastic) - Die Cut Stickers: Echo Park (A Boy's Life) & Pebbles (Tooth Fairy Stickers) - Journal Spot: Pink Paislee (Captivating Sticker Book).  Note: Lyrics to Brush Your Teeth, song by Raffi.

When my grandson saw this he smiled and said, "that's me looking in the mirror". And then he got a funny look on his face and said, "I'm in my underwear!" Oops, yes you are buddy!

Day 9 of LOAD, our prompt was to make a layout with 6 or more photos. Piece of cake for me. I used 2 Page Sketch #78 May 2012 from Sketch Support. Here's the sketch:

I didn't change the sketch up much at all. Here's my layout:

Product Used: My Mind's Eye (Lime Twist/Happy Go Lucky/Perfect, Together, Hello) & Echo Park (Little Boy/Rock Star) - Journal Card: Making Memories (Note-worthy Spiral Notebook) - Foam Letter Stickers: (EK Success/Sticko) - Calendar: Simple Stories (Happy Day 6X6 Paper Pad) - Chipboard Word Stickers: Bella Blvd. (Cio Chip/Asparagus & Pickle Juice) - Star Punches: Marvy Uchida - Foam Squares: ThermOWeb - Pop Dots - Chalk Ink: Colorbox.

Today's prompt was to create a layout with a cereal box for inspiration. Say what? I couldn't possibly find any inspiration on a cereal box. Again, I was wrong! Here's the cereal box that I used as my inspiration piece:

Good old Cheerios. And here's my layout inspired by this box:

Products Used: Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee (Hometown Summer/Summer Fun & House of 3/Soiree-Music), The Girls' Paperie (Jubilee) & Crate Paper (Emma's Shop Collection/Dresses) - Letter Stickers: American Crafts (Thickers/Cream Soda) - Rub On's: The Paper Studio - Cutting Tool: Creative Memories Custom Cutting System - Circle Punch: Fiskars - Banner Clip Art: Provo Craft - Camera Embellishment: Self made with clip art off Internet.

I'm happy with the way it turned out. Especially since I was a bit intimidated by the prompt.  I used the color scheme of yellow, green black & red like the box. I made my title bigger & in black. And I mimicked the heart with the banner. Very fun!

The theme of this round of LOAD is "Outside the Box". Lain has taken our imagination and creativity outside of our comfort zone and into different areas we may not have thought of other wise. At times it seems tough, but it has so far been super fun!

One more day before the weekend. Happy Mother's Day to all of you that are mothers. And may you all have a safe and fun weekend.

Scraplifting And Spotlighting Make For A Happy Day!

Hello dear friends. After such a hard day yesterday of not feeling in sync with the world of scrapbooking, today is a new day. I have a couple of things I'd like to share.

Today I am being featured at Scrap Our Stash with a layout that I scraplifted from one of my favorite fellow scrapbookers! Lisa Hausmann from Recklinghausen Musings is an uber talented friend whom I met in LOAD a few years ago.(See I told you that you meet the best people there).  She has such a signature style, and I thought if I could scraplift from one of her layouts for the "May I" Challenge, that I would obviously come up with a great layout. Here is the beautiful layout she created that I picked as my inspiration:

See her post here for the details of this beautiful layout she created. I loved the design and of course her gorgeous signature embellishment of the floss gathering. Here's my scraplift:

Products Used: Cardstock: The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper: Sandylion (Lollia/Dot) - Mist: Memories Mist (Cherry Smoothie) - Ink: Versa Magic - Washi Tape: Kamoi Kokoshi Co. - Butterfly: Jenny Bowlin - Transparency: Making Memories - Twine: Doodlebug Designs (Bubblegum) - Die Cutting Machine: Craft Robo - Digi Journal Card: Unknown.

My layout is a bit more linear, where Lisa's has more whimsy which I love! Her floss looks so much more natural were mine feels a bit more forced. I think I'm being overly self conscious. But overall, I knew if I lifted one of her layouts, I would love the results. And I do!

If you get a chance, check our her blog here. She also is a contributor to a great challenge site Whimsical Musings. They have some really awesome challenges, so check that out as well. Thanks Lisa!

My other share, is that I received an email today letting me know one of my layouts was being spotlighted at Club CK. I am so excited. I'm very honoured to have been picked. You may remember this layout that I created for Day #3 of LOAD. It is the layout being spotlighted this week along with a few other beautiful projects on their blog.

Well, I've got to get busy and work on my LOAD layout for today's prompt. Lain has challenged us to make a layout in 30 minutes. LOL! I'm going to try. Hope I do better than my 3 hour layout yesterday!!!!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

I Do Better With Less Sleep!

Happy Sunday everyone. First I must apologize for my misstep with yesterday's blog title. I entitled my post "Happy National Scrapbooking Day". But that left out all my wonderful international scrapbook friends, so my apologies.

I was able to make three layouts yesterday before lunch time came around. After that I got busy with family, and didn't get back to it. I was so tired last night I actually went to bed at 8:30 pm. I thought I'd get up this morning and whip up another page or two before the day got going with renewed zest. But I have almost zero craftiness in me today. I was able to struggle through my LOAD challenge layout, but I am less that happy with the results. Go figure. I work better with less sleep than I do with more I guess.

Today's prompt was a sketch. Sunday's challenges for LOAD will be "Sketchy Sundays". I love sketches, so I thought this layout would be a breeze. I figured out fairly quickly my title, and of course where the main elements were going to go thanks to the sketch. I turned the sketch 90 degrees which helped with my photos. Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

Product Used: Cardstock: The Paper Co. - Patterned Paper: American Crafts (Daydreams/Wonderful Day & The Paper Studio) - Title Letters: American Crafts (Thickers/Daiquiri) - Buttons: American Crafts (Dear Lizzy) - Chipboard Button: K&Co. (Wild Saffron) - Flower Gems: Colorbok (Flashy Finds) - Word Stickers: Authentique (Delightful Elements) - Border Strip: Crate Paper (Neighborhood Collection) - Flowers: Unknown.

I was at a stand still with embellishments on this one. I was on such a roll yesterday and embellishing was coming easier for me. Now it's like I'm back to square one today. Very frustrating!

I was able to join in at Big Picture Classes on two of the Creative Crop challenges yesterday. And the two challenges I was able to participate in were hosted by two of my favorite scrapbookers in the whole wide world. Stacy Julian hosted the first challenge. She challenged us to create a fun and unique border around one of our photos. Here's my double paged layout:

Products Used: Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye (Je t'adore/Heart Doilies & Red Ledger) - Washi Tape: Hambly, Queen & Co. & Kamoi Kakoshi - Heart & Bracket Stickers: Adorn It Carolee's Creations - Die Cut Stickers: Echo Park (This & That Alph Sticker Sheet) - Word Lable: My Mind's Eye (Miss Caroline) - Die Cut Machine: Craft Robo - Epoxy Sticker: Unknown.

I absolutely love washi tape, and have seem many crafters lately using it as borders around their layout elements.

The second scrapbook challenge host was Ali Edwards. Her challenge was for us to create a layout with two photos. One photo from a few years back, and one from now, and then journal what has changed since then. Here's what I came up with:

Products Used: Patterned Papers: Prima & American Crafts (Daydreams/Happy Day) - Title Letters: American Crafts (Thickers/Daiquiri) - Grungboard Shapes: Tim Holtz Idea-ology - Chipboard Clocks: Teresa Collins (Clock Diecut Charms) - Border Punch: Fiskars - Number Stickers: Cosmo Cricket (Tiny Type) - Journaling Card: Making Memories (noteworthy) - Paint: Apple Barrel White - Pen: Zig Writer - Tag: Avery.

When I was cleaning out my scrapbook stash last week, I came upon the grungeboard pieces that I've had for over a year. I had immediately thought of flying clocks and so I was happy to finally be able to create that on a layout!

I loved creating layouts for both challenges. Wish I had more time to do more yesterday when my creative juices were flowing, but it is what it is. They had some great guest hosts and sponsors.

Hope you all are having a great weekend. Keep scrapping!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day

Wow, the Internet is inundated with all kinds of challenges, inspiration and giveaways! Where to start! Since I'm participating in LOAD this month, that is where I began.

At first when I read today's challenge prompt, I thought Lain was off her rocker. She challenged us to go to Ebay and type in our first name, or a nickname. Once we've done that, we find something on there that we could draw inspiration from and create a layout. What? What could I possible find on Ebay, under my first name, that I could remotely give me any inspiration. It's an auction site. Well.....I was wrong. This was what I found under "Debbie":

Did I get lucky or what! I saw so many possibilities! Here's what I came up with:

Products Used: Patterned Paper: We R Memory Keepers (Tre's Elegant Polished), The Girls' Paperie by Margie (Jubilee), & Crate Paper (Portrait Collection/Bridesmaids) - Kraft Doilies (Maya Road) - Chipboard Butterflies: Studio Calico - Butterfly Sticker: My Mind's Eye (Lime Twist/Happy Go Lucky/Perfect) - Flowers: Prima & Studio G - Bingo Card: Jenni Bowlin Studios - Epoxy Sticker: Little Yellow Bicycle (Fresh Print/Clothesline) - Chipboard Letter Stickers: American Crafts (Thickers/Typo) - Word Strips: Cosmo Cricket (Tiny Text) - Brads: Recollections - Corner Rounder: Creative Memories - Distress Ink: Tim Holtz by Ranger - Adhesives: Duck Adhesives, Glue Dots & Recollections Foam Dots.

Obviously I drew from the flower arch design on the left hand of the inspiration piece. Like I said, there were so many possibilities. This challenge was so fun and I love that I mixed up some old product with new supplies!

Now I'm off to check out some fun challenges before my family's day begins. I'll share soon, and I hope to see what you make!

More LOAD Fun

You may notice that my blog looks a bit different today. Yesterday I received a warning, (if any of you tried to visit my blog, you probably got it too), that the the website that I had downloaded my blog design from had been shown to have malware on their site. I've used them forever, but I quickly got rid of the background I was using, as well as a widget that I loved. I'm sure someone hacked into their site and added it. I really despise people who do things like this. Anyhoo, everything is fine now. I got a crash course on how to design your own header for blogspot. It took me forever to get it the right size, but I finally figured it out. Sheeesh!

I've been busy with general life and with LOAD. The daily layout prompts have kept me on my toes. Day 3 our challenge was to take colors that are usually associated with a holiday, and make a non-holiday page.

Products Used: All product are from My Mind's Eye Kraft Fun Day - Everyday Fun and Happy Days Collection.

I had this lovely product that I think I originally purchased because it reminded me of the 4th of July.  I liked the movement that the chevron paper had, and thought it would be perfect for the subject of the run/walk.

I must say that this layout is an example of me putting my money where my mouth is. I had said in a previous post that I buy way too much scrap supplies, and I said I was going to be more intentional with my shopping. I tend to buy one of these, a couple of those, without regard to if it will match anything I already have in my stash. With this purchase of the My Mind's Eye product, I was more intentional. I made sure that I had a few things that I could use together, yet some of it would also match nicely with what I already have in my stash. I rarely have made a layout with everything coming from the same line before, let alone the same company. It's so freeing because they've done all the matching for you! I know, duh! I'm a slow learner at times!

Product Used: Patterned Paper & Buttons: American Crafts (Dear Lizzy-Neapolitan/Pretty Please & Daydreams/Wonderful Day) - Flower Gems: Colorbok (Flashy Finds) - Border Punch: Fiskars - Cloud Die Cuts: Sizzix - Die Cut Machine: Craft Robo - Adhesive: Duck Adhesive, Pop Dots & Glue Dots.

Today's prompt had to do with the sense of hearing. I decided to do my layout about the lack of sound. Sleeping Children!  If you are familiar with Stacy Julian's Library Of Memories & Photo Freedom concepts, you will understand how easy it was for me to find these four photos. I had them all in my category drawer under the tab "sleep". It took me less than a minute to pull them out to use on this layout. Easy layout put together with a sketch from my "28 Sketches" class I took last month at Big Picture Classes.

Product Used: Cardstock: The Paper Studio - Patterned Die Cut Paper & Butterflies: Studio Calico - Border Punch: Fiskars - Ribbon: Making Memories - Chalk Ink: Colorbox - Die Cut Machine: Craft Robo - other: Sewing Machine.

And lastly, I created this layout for one of this week's challenges at Two Peas In A Bucket. The challenge is to use circles on your project. I used half circles as a border to my photos. It's hard to read the title on this scan, but it stands out much better in person.

And as the school year winds down, so are the clubs and events the kids have been a part of. We went to our middle granddaughter's Spring Choir Concert last night. This was her first year and she really loves it. I always loved choir, so I hope she continues with it throughout her school years.

I'm still waiting on two of the winners of the scrapbook boxes to contact me. I sent one off yesterday to a happy home. jenleon & Karen Conner, please contact me and I'll ship them out to you!

Hope you all have a great weekend. Tomorrow is National Scrapbooking Day. I am signed up for Big Picture Classes Creative Crop. I'm not sure how often I will be able to check in, but I'm sure there will loads of inspiration there to use at a later time.

Two Peas In A Bucket is also having projects, challenges and prizes. Be sure to check them out as well. I may see you at one of these sites.

Happy Weekend....Happy Scrapping!

LOAD Is In Full Swing!

Well, I'm on my second day of Layout A Day, (LOAD), and so far so good. Day one the prompt was to create a layout about ourselves. I really wasn't in the mood to do a current story, so I chose to scrap photos from almost 32 years ago!

Products Used: Patterned Paper: Making Memories (Animal Crackers/Jack Animal & Je'tadore/Pink Dots) & Daisy Hill - Border: Doodlebug Designs (Frills/Cupcake) - Small Letters: Cosmo Cricket (Tiny Type) - Transparency: Making Memories (Clear Creations/Baby) - Buttons: The Paper Studio - Adhesive: Scotch ATG, Duck Adhesive & ThermOWeb Zots - Large Letter Stickers: Unknown.

I'm very glad to say that I used up some product that has been in my stash for awhile. I'm really trying to stay familiar with what I still have. The design was encouraged by this week's LOM Community challenge of creating a layout with 9 photos on a page, lined up in 3's. I had so many photos that I made a two page layout and used the grid on my right hand side.

Today's prompt was really hard for me. The prompt was to create a layout without photos! Gasp! I just could not get inspired to save my soul. I was getting frustrated because I really want to try to follow the prompts, even though we don't have to. I decided to peruse the gallery and see if I could get any ideas. I saw a layout from yesterday that was about a trip to Disneyland and I was immediately drawn to it. I started to comment on the layout saying how much I loved it and that I was such a fan of Disney layouts, and it hit me like a ton of bricks! Do a story about my love/obsession with all things Disney! This is my no photo layout:

Products Used: Patterned Paper: Creative Imaginations - Cardstock: Bazzill Basics - Disney Embellishments: EK Success - Washi Tape: Queen & Co. - Die Cut Machine: Craft Robo - White Pen: Gelly Roll medium - Chalk Ink: Colorbox.

Just a reminder that I have three winners to send packages out to. See the drawing winners here. Jordan, jenleon & Karen Conner, please email me with your mailing address and I will get them out!
