Hello there and good morning. It's a new Monday, and that could only mean one thing.....A new sketch is up at Let's Get Sketchy. Here's this week's sketch:
The sketch was created by Brenshevia. It's fairly straight forward and full of possibilities! Here is what I came up with:
I took this sketch and combined it with the current prompt that I'm working on in Shimelle's Pretty Paper Party class. The prompt is challenging us to use patterned paper as our background vs. cardstock. I had always used cardstock only as my background foundation in the past, but since taking Shimelle's class previously, I use patterns as my background more often. The patterned papers and embellishments I chose are from the American Crafts/(Amy Tangerine) Ready Set Go and (Dear Lizzy) 5th & Frolic collections. I really hope you will come and join us at Let's Get Sketchy and give this awesome sketch a try!
I also want to share another layout I created with the same prompt of using patterned paper as your background for Shimelle's class.
For this layout, I took the 3 Bugs In A Rug/Blast Off collection from my stash to use. I had 6 different papers from the line that I used on this layout. The reason I chose the paper that I did for the background of this layout, is because of the repeating pattern and it's smaller scale. Then I cut up the other papers to use as layers to frame my photos. This way there is separation between the background pattern and the busy photos. I love how it turned out!
Repeating, smaller scale patterns are great for a background. Tone on tone, one color plus white or cream, and ledger or grids also make a great foundation choice. These are the types of patterned papers I am on the lookout for presently to use as my background.
I really hope you all have an amazing week! Get some "you" time in and get some scrapping done!

Love how you clustered your photo on the center with your 2nd LO and the layers too. =)

You did a great job on both of these layouts. I especially love the rocket on the one on the bottom. I usually struggle using patterned paper as a background but you rocked it!

ReplyDeleteLovely take on the sketch Debbie. The more I see of Shimelle's class the more I am determined to save up for it! (I know it's only $25 or something but even that is not in my budget right now!!) You are really rocking the pp back ground and I love all the layers in your Blast Off layout! Well done!!
