I started off with misc. photos from May 1978, and I have finished 5 layouts so far. I was able to cover 14 months, (May '78 through July '79), in those 5 Project Life layouts. Now I'm up to when my son was 1 month old.
It was then that I decided to jump ahead 20 years. I began with photos from June 1999, starting with the birth of our oldest granddaughter. She was born on my son's 20th birthday.
Now so far I've done two pages for 1999, and I've only progressed through one week of time! Quite a contrast from the 1978 pages, where I made it through a little over a year of time in only 5 pages. Why??? Because I took way more pictures 20 years later! I'm also finding it a bit of a struggle to purge photos. Even though I'm using many of them for different purposes, it's still hard to throw the extras away. There just is no way to scrap every single one of them and many of them are very similar. I am working on being more ruthless about picking the best and getting rid of the rest.
I do plan to continue working on the older photos, and whittling away at both time periods as my heart desires. I'm keeping a log of where I've left off in each decade, so I know where to continue at any given time.
And if the Project Life album wasn't enough to add to my work load, I am working on this album as well . . . . simultaneously!
As I go through my photos, I'm picking a variety of them to create a baby album for my granddaughter. This album will have a two page spread for each month of her life, up to 1 year of age. This will be her album to have when she goes off to college or gets married. The pages will be somewhat similar and pretty uniform throughout the album, which will make it simpler for me to put together. (Note: I will be making one of these albums for each of my grandkids).
I'm also looking out for stories as I go through all these photos to document in layouts for my album about her.
These are regular layouts that I am creating. This album will stay with me in our home until I'm gone. Then she can have it as well if she wants it. I hope she will.
So that's what I'm up to right now. As I find stories and page ideas here and there in the process, I am making notes and setting the photos aside so I can create layouts when I feel inspired to. We shall see if this all continues to work. I'll keep you updated.
I'm going to another crop this weekend, so I hope I will have a few layouts to share with you next week.
Hope your week is going well, and I hope you have an awesome weekend!
