It's Monday.......wake up, rise and shine and get ready to face the week. Grab a warm or cold beverage, and head on over to Let's Get Sketchy for a new sketch and Design Team reveal. Team B, which is my team, is up this week. I'm amazed at all the different takes on the sketch and all the inspiration to be found in today's reveal. Here's a peek at this week's sketch:
Oct. Week 2 Sketch
Sketch created by Brenshevia
When I start a layout with a sketch, I go through my photos first to find some that could work with the sketch. In this case, the photos I wanted to scrap were in a different orientation, so I chose to flip the sketch on it's side to make it work.
Patterned Papers are from the Echo Park/Happy Camper collection
See, this is how I was looking at the sketch when I created my layout.
Sketches are such a great jumping off point and can be adapted to fit your needs.
Today it's also my turn for the Monday Sketch Challenge at Turtle Soup. Here's the sketch you would be working with:
Sketch created by Bev Code
Again, I went through my photos until I found two that I wanted to work with. In this case I changed up a few things. I mostly added a few elements to what was shown on the sketch. The sketch is feminine, and I wanted my layout to be masculine and grungy. So here's what I came up with using the sketch:
This layout was a lot of fun to create. I used bubble wrap to apply my paint, and I used pieces of drywall mesh to add a grungy texture. The patterned papers that I chose are from Bo Bunny, Best Creation, and the now defunct Creative Imaginations.
I grunged my layout up so I could join in on the Oct. 1st challenge at Boy Meets Girl. The current challenge is the "About A Boy - Grunge Challenge". Your entries must be in by Oct. 15th. At that point they will reveal their "About A Girl" challenge for the rest of the month. Very fun! Be sure to check their challenge blog out!
I also hope you will find time to join in at Let's Get Sketchy and Turtle Soup! You will be so glad you did!
Have a wonderful crafty week!
